I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to meet the couples, families and individuals that trust my eye and my camera to capture their unique moments in time. Today I had a blast with Jed and Heather at their engagement session. The weather was perfect (especially in February, and considering it SNOWED yesterday)! Here are a few of my favorites - enjoy!

New Year...New Name/Look/Website...
2012. It's a new year. A fresh start, both personally and professionally.
While, "photographE studio" served me well the past few years, it was time for a business-friendly change. Those of you who have been with from the start, know that Legacy made its first appearances in my husband's and my personal blog and cattle enterprise in 2010. It's a tribute to the past and a promise to the future, and it seemed only fitting to carry the theme in to my artistic venture.
You may be wondering what the purple four-leaf clover represents. I don't have an eloquent explanation for you, but it's a simple reminder to me of some of the wisest words my grandpa shared with me as a child. He always found the lucky four-leaf clovers, and I wanted to know his secret for success. He told me in life, sometimes you just have to keep your eyes on the ground or you miss the simple things. Wisdom I've never forgotten.
Check out my new website, and update your bookmarks to keep up to speed on the new adventures of Legacy Photo + Design. Here's to an incredible year!

Full Circle
I often get asked how I got started in photography. I've had a camera in my hands longer than I can remember, taking pictures around my family's farm in Pennsylvania. Cattle, horses, flowers, barns, sunsets...I loved it all. As I got older, I would enter some of my favorite photos in the county fair and other state and national photography contests. As with so many things in life, the more I practiced, the better my composition.
A few years ago, one of my best friends asked me to snap some pictures of her and her fiance for a "save-the-date" announcement. Her faith in my abilities opened my photographic eye to a whole new world of pictures...people pictures. Over the past few years, my equipment and experience has pushed me from a hobbyist to a professional, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for me and my Nikon!
And as the title of this post suggests, it seems as though my photographic journey has come full circle. Not because I have a flow of clients calling, but because I have been given the great opportunity to pass along all that I have learned to an enthusiastic group of young people in the local 4-H program. Today was our first meeting, and I can't wait to be a part of it! Watching them learn and perfect an art form, all the while helping one another --- stay tuned, it's going to be a fun year!

The 20-30 mph wind yesterday wasn't so conducive to picture taking, but thankfully my clients we flexible with their schedules! Today was a beautiful day in Kansas, as was the family I had the honor of capturing with my camera! Check out some of my favorites below - I just love the colors of fall!

Fall Family Fun!
I had so much fun Sunday afternoon with the Weaber family! The weather was gorgeous, the colors were awesome and this family of five looked beautiful through my camera lens! I'm having a hard time choosing a favorite - which one is yours?
